SINDY graduated from University and her thesis was accepted. She is working to establish her regional accounting firm.
MERLYN won first place in her state, Guatemala and an international competition in Spain for her senior High School research paper.
During her senior year practical experience, the bank offered her a full time job as assistant auditor for the bank branches. She accepted and has resigned from the program due to her new very busy and well paid life.
CHANGING OUR GIRL'S LIVES: ONE GIRL AT A TIME
Of the five 2009 high school graduates, two were valedictorians, one second place, another 3rd. place and the last graduated in computer science, the most difficult program.
During 2007 and 2008, our eight high school girls earned 10 valdictorian medals and 4 escorts (second place) medals. There were only 24 medals during this period for classes of 45-60 students.
In January of 2009, the directors of the university and two high schools explained that Spirit is the group parents want their girls to be part of. Reason: our girls are the top of the class, support each other and have wonderful program benefits. This explained why we were inundated with applications for 2009 and again for 2010.
Each of our girls walk tall and with pride. They are the chosen, by godparents in the US and Canada. Being chosen gives them immense value and self worth.
AND THE STORY CONTINUES:
Theodora graduated from High School, and finished two years of auditing at university. Due to pressure from her traditional father, who believes girls are the cash cows, she took a job, working in accounting in Xela.
Mariela, a future auditor, is able to work part time as an assistant in a doctor's office while studying at the university.
Cristina graduated from High School and is currently running her little market shoe store in order to pay for her sister's high school education. She hopes to attend university starting in 2012, when she says it will be her turn again.
Hilda and classmate, Elisa, (not shown) finished their law program and are writing their thesis and preparing for their private exams.
Hilda looks forward to helping others, as her godmothers taught her what it means to receive necessary help.
WONDERFUL NEWS! Hilda will be an Official at the Public Ministry. She is now somebody with a title! Her dream is a reality.
